International Women's Day

International Women's Day

In the midst of a tumultuous time in our history, it’s inspiring to witness women coming together to make changes for themselves and each other. One of the biggest celebrations of women happens on International Women’s Day which is observed on March 8. This global event celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. More than ever we have seen recent activist movements such as Me Too and Time’s Up making a difference in our world. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Press for Progress. The day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action to press forward in demanding respect and support for women everywhere.

As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, I am thankful that I work for a company that exemplifies these ideals. iResponze is a women-led company. Our Chief Innovation Officer, Rose Mentrie, has worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and has built iResponze from the ground up. At her core, Rose is a visionary and a problem solver, and that drives the direction of our company. iResponze® was launched to fill a particular need within the hotel landscape, and it continues to evolve with services that have emerged from what our customers have asked for. Rose has worked hard to build our company, but she emphasizes the importance of having a good team – many of whom are women. In fact, four out of our five Leadership Team members are female.

In addition, iResponze believes in the importance of having a work-life balance. Many of our associates are women in varying stages of life and we celebrate that diversity. We are a virtual organization which offers employees the flexibility they may need to be stay-at-home moms (or dads), caregivers to aging parents, or extra income for those who are semi-retired. iResponze represents gender equality in the best way because the men who work for our company have all of these opportunities as well.

International Women’s Day is a day for everyone to celebrate women’s achievements, from the days of suffrage until now, and to remember why we continue to fight for equality. Personally, I am committed to this fight so that eventually every woman will have the opportunity to work for and with other amazing, intelligent women. And, even more, to have the opportunity to flourish in a role that understands the needs of employees (especially women) as iResponze does. All of these elements make iResponze a special place to work, and something that I am grateful for every day.
